SORBITOL DELALANDE Sachet

- Symptomatic treatment of conspitation:

Adult: 1sachet before breakfast, on an empty stomach.

Children: 1/2 adult dose.

- Adjunctive treatment of digestive difficulties: 1-3 sachets/day by oral route, before meal or when symptoms happen. Dissolve the sachet in 1/2 glass of water. Oral administration.

- Chronic inflammatory diseases of bowel (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease,…).

- Intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unknown origin.

- Biliary obstruction.

- Genetic intolerance to fructose (rare metabolic disease).

- Risk of diarrhea, abdominal pain especially in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

- Risk of flatulence.

If you notice any undesirable effects not mentioned in this package insert please inform your doctor.

- Laxatives may cause increased peristalsis, thereby concomintant taken drugs pass via intestines shortly and cause decreased absorption of these drugs.

- There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Sorbitol should only be given during pregnancy when the benefit outweights the risk.

- There are no data on the excretion of sorbitol into human milk.

- Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine if you are pregnant of breat-feeding.

Warnings

- Prolonged prescription of laxative is not recommended.

- Treatment of constipation with medicament is only an adjunctive to hygienodietic treatment: eating enough fiber, drinking enough fluids, getting enough exercise and training habit to defecate.

Precautions

Reduce the dose and do not administer the product with empty stomach in irritable bowel syndrome.

- Osmmotic laxative: sorbitol stimulates secretion of cholecystokinin-pancreozymin that causes gallbladder contration and secretion of pancreatic juice. It increases the hydration of bowel contents and cause increase of bowel movement by osmotic effect.
