PHENERGAN Tablet

To treat allergic conditions, such as hay fever, rashes or hives, or to prevent travel sickness. Doctor may also recommended Phenergan as a sedative for a short period of time.

Dosage

In allergic conditions e.g. hay fever, rashes or hives: 1-2 tablets, to be renewed 4 hours later minimum. No more than 6 tablets a day.

Short term sedative; a doctor will normally have prescribed this and the following is a guide to the doses recommended: 1-2 tablets as a single dose, 15-30 minutes before nighttime

Do not take Phenergan for longer than 7 days without asking your doctor or pharmacist.

Dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, water retention, drowsiness, tiredness, nightmares, headaches, restlessness, loss of appetite, irritation of the stomach, and especially in elderly people, dizziness when standing up and confusion. You should not need to worry about these effects unless they become troublesome, in which case you should contact your doctor.

People taking high doses may develop sensitivity to sunlight. If this occurs you should avoid sun lamps and direct sunlight.

Some side effects may be more serious and if you have any of the following:

Wheezing, Tightness of the chest, Faintness, Muscle stiffness or shaking, Inability to control certain muscles of your head or face, Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), Heart palpitations (usually rapid or irregular heart beat), Unexpected sore throat, infections or fever, Persistent tiredness, Over active behavior in children.

Stop taking these tablets and tell your doctor immediately.

Do not be alarmed at this list of possible effects. Most people take this tablet without any problems.

Do not drink alcohol whilst you are taking Phenergan.

Check with doctor or pharmacist before you use ANY other medicines. Some medicines for colds or allergy, when taken at the same time as Phenergan, increase the risk of dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision and constipation.

Ask your doctor.

As Phenergan may make you feel drowsy do not drive or operate machinery. These effect usually only lasta for a few days.
