MOMETIX AQ Nasal spray

MOMETIX is used for the treatment of seasonal and non-seasonable allergic rhinitis, treatment of nasal effects such as block up, sneezing, itching and runny nose and treatment of chronic inflammation of nasal mucosa called nasal polyps.

Dosage

In adults:

Seasonal allergic rhinitis or perennial allergic rhinitis: 2 actuations (50 microgram/actuation) in each nostril once daily.

Nasal polyposis: Recommended daily dose 2 actuations (50 microgram/actuation) in each nostril twice daily (total daily dose of 400 micrograms).

- If you have allergic reaction to any of ingredients of MOMETIX,

- MOMETIX should not be used by children under 2 years of age. Safety and efficacy has not been proved under the age of 2.

If you encounter with any of following cases, stop using MOMETIX and inform your physician IMMEDIATELY or go the emergency department of the nearest hospital:

- Hypersensitivity reactions (trouble in breathing, wheezing),

- Anaphylaxis, angioedema.

If you encounter with any of the following cases, inform your physician IMMEDIATELY or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital:

- Bleeding or pinkish colour in the mucosa,

- Ulceration in the nose.

This is a serious side effect. May require emergency medical care.

Serious side effects are observed very rarely.

If you observe any of the below, inform your physician:

- Sore nose or irritation,

- Headache,

- Angina,

- Sneezing,

- Alterations in taste and smell.

There are light side effects of MOMETIX.

These side effects would disappear when the dose is lowered or treatment is discontinued.

There is no evidence of interaction with other medicaments.

Consult your physician or pharmacist before use.

Pregnancy

- This medication should not be used unless prescribed by a physician.

- - Consult your physician immediately if you learn that you are pregnant during your treatment.

Lactation

It is not known whether MOMETIX passes to mother’s milk. Therefore, use under physician’s control during lactation period.

- If you have active or quiescent tuberculosis infections of the respiratory tract, chickenpox, measles or in untreated fungal, bacterial, systemic viral infections or ocular herpes simplex,

- If you have an ulcer in your nasal cavity or had an operation or trauma on your nose recently,

- If you have used systemic corticosteroid before.

Special age groups:

Children: for 2-11 years of age recommended dose is total of 100 microgram with 1 actuation in each nostril once daily.

Nasal polyposis: Recommended daily dose 2 actuations in each nostril twice daily (total daily dose of 400 micrograms).

MOMETIX is a corticosteroid having an active ingredient of mometasone furoate monohydrate. It reduces the inflammation reactions in the respiratory tract which are formed by allergens and irritating materials in the air.
