MEIBIC-7.5 Tablet

Indicated for

1. Short-term symptomatic treatment of exacerbations of osteoarthrosis.

2. Long term symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Dosage and Administration

Oral use.

* Exacerbations of osteoarthrosis:

7.5mg/day. If necessary, in the absence of improvement, the dose may be increased to 15mg/day.

* rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis:

15mg/day. According to the therapeutic response, the dose may be reduced to 7.5mg/day. DO NOT EXCEED THE DOSE OF 15mg/day. The total daily amount should be taken as a single dose, with water or another liquid, during a meal.

- Special populations: Elderly patients and patients with increased risks for adverse reaction.

- Renal impairment

- Hepatic impairment

Children: MEIBIC should not be used in children aged under 15.

- Pregnancy and lactation,

- Hypersensitivity to meloxicam or to one of the excipients or hypersensitivity to substances with a similar action, e.g. NSAIDs, aspirin. Meibic should not be given to patients who have developed signs of asthma, nasal polyps, angioneurotic oedema or urticaria following the administration of aspirin or other NSAIDs.

- Acute gastro-intestinal ulcer or history of recurrent gastro-intestinal ulcer.

- Severely impaired liver function

- Non-dialyzed severe renal function

- Gastrointestinal bleeding, cerebrovascular bleeding or other bleeding disorders

- Severe uncontrolled heart failure.

GI intolerance, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, GI bleeding, perforation, skin rash, headache, vertigo, drowsiness, lightheadedness, palpitation, oedema, angioedema, bronchospasm in individuals allergic to aspirin or NSAIDs.

Contraindicated.

Stop treatment in the event of GI bleeding or peptic ulcer or significant changes in liver or renal function tests. Use with caution in patients with CHF, cirrhosis, renal failure, or those who have recently undergone major surgery leading to hypovolaemia. Eliminate or conform total cure of oesophagitis, peptic ulcer or gastritis.

Meloxicam is a NSAID that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities in animal models. The mechanism of action of meloxicam, like that of other NSAIDs, may be related to prostaglandin synthetase (cyclooxygenase) inhibition.
