CREAZITHRO Tablet

Indication:
It is indicated for the treatment of infections due to sensitive bacteria.

Dosage:

Azithromycin tablets should be given as a single daily dose.

The tablets should be swallowed preferably with a drink of water, and can be taken with or without food.

Adults (including older patients), children and adolescents with a body weight of over 45kg:

The recommended dose is 1500mg divided over either 3-5 days as follows:

- When taken over 3 days, 500mg once daily.

- When taken over 5 days, 500mg as a single dose on the first day and then 250mg once daily on days 2 through to 5.

- Inflammation of the urethra or cervix caused by Chlamydia: 1000mg taken as a single dose, for one day only.

For infections in your sinuses, treatment is indicated for adults and adolescents 16 years of age and over.

Children and adolescents with a body weight of 45kg and under:

Tablets are not indicated for these patients. Other pharmaceutical forms of azithromycin-containing products (e.g. suspensions) may be used.

Patients with kidney or liver problems:

You should tell your doctor.

Duration of treatment

To be effective, this drug should be used without interruption, at the prescribed doses and for as long as your doctor recommended.

Hypersensitivity to one of the component,

Liver failure,

If you are taking the following medicines: medicines known as ergot alkaloids (such as ergotamine), cisapride, colchicine.

- Mucocutaneous and allergic disorders: rash, photosensitivity, arthralgia, urticaria, pruritus, rarely angioedema, anaphylactic reactions. Rare cases of severe skin reactions have been reported.

- Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea (rarely severe), abdominal pain, pancreatitis. Rare cases of pseudomembranous colitis have been reported.

- Hepatic: elevated liver enzymes reversible on discontinuation. Rare cases of hepatic necrosis and rarely life-threatening hepatic failure. However, no causal link has been established.

Isolated cases of cholestatic hepatitis have been reported.

- Neurological: dizziness; rare cases of convulsions have been reported.

- Hematologic: thrombocytopenia isolated cases have been reported.

- Psychiatric: Rare cases of aggressive behavior, nervousness, agitation and anxiety have been reported.

- Genital: vaginitis.

- Hearing: rare cases of hearing disorders with tinnitus or hearing loss have been reported.

- General: candidiasis.
