    Paracetamol

Side effects of paracetamol are rare and usually mild, although haematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia and agranulocytosis have been reported. Skin rashes and other hypersensitivity reactions occur occasionally.

Overdose with paracetamol can result in severe liver damage and sometimes acute renal tubular necrosis. Prompt treatment with acetylcysteine or methionine is essential.

    Dicycloverine

Anticholinergics as a group as a whole has known to cause following adverse reactions which are also applicable to Dicycloverine, however with a lower frequency of occurrence and severity.

Cardiovascular: Palpitations, bradycardia (following low doses of atropine): tachycardia (after higher doses).

CNS: Headache, flushing, nervousness, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, insomnia, fever (especially in children), mental confusion or excitement especially in elderly patients with even small doses. Large doses may produce CNS stimulation (restlessness, tremor). In the presence of pain, scopolamine may produce excitement, restlessness, hallucinations or delirium, parenteral Dicycloverine may cause temporary light-headedness.

Dermatologic: Severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, urticaria and other dermal manifestations. Local irritation may occur with parenteral Dicycloverine.

    Dicycloverine

Dicycloverine relieves smooth muscle spasm of the intestinal tract. This action is achieved via a dual mechanism:

    1) a specific anticholinergic effect (anti-muscarinic) at the Acetylcholine receptor sites and

    2) a direct effect upon smooth muscles.

It is therefore useful for abdominal colics.

Dicycloverine is rapidly absorbed after oral administration reaching peak values within 60-90minutes. The principal route of elimination is via the urine.

    Paracetamol

Paracetamol has antipyretic and mild analgesic actions. It is rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentrations occur within 0.5-2 hours. It is extensively metabolised and excreted in the urine.
