AXOGREL Tablet

Reduction of atherosclerotic events (MI, stroke and vascular death), in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent stroke, recent MI, or established peripheral arterial disease.

Dosage

Adults: 75mg once daily with or without food.

Route of administration: Oral (to be swallowed).

Hypersensitivity, active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage.

Commonly reported side effects are diarrhoea, rash, pruritus and abnormal discomfort. Neutropenia, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Aspirin: Potentiates the effect of aspirin on collagen-induced platelet aggregation.

NSAIDs: Risk of increased occult gastrointestinal blood loss.

Phenytoin, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, warfarin, torsemide, fluvastatin: Since clopidogrel inhibits CYP450 2C9 it may interfere with the metabolism of these drug.

Patients at risk of increased bleeding from trauma, surgery or other pathological conditions.

Patients who have lesions with a propensity to blood (e.g. ulcers). Hepatic impairment.

Clopidogret selectively inhibits the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor and the subsequent. ADP mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPⅡb/Ⅱcomplex, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel also inhibits platelet aggregation induced by agonists other than ADP by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP. Clopidogrel does not inhibit phosphodiesterase activity.
