ANLITIN Tablet

Indications

Emergency postcoital contraception within 72hours of unprotected sexual intercourse or failure of a contraceptive method, such as:

1. Unprotected intercourse without using condoms or with broken condoms.

2. Failure of regular birth control. (Expulsion of Intrauterine device, missed contraception pills, dislodging of cervical cap, etc)

3. Failure of coitus interruptus.

4. Emergency contraception for rape victims.

Dosage and Administration

The drug should be taken as prescribed by your physician.

One tablet should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and not later than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

1. Known hypersensitive to levonorgestrel or any of The excipients.

2. Patients with severe liver dysfunction or a history of tubal pregnancy

1. Nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, agoraphobia and vomiting. These symptoms are usually alleviated and disappeared within 48 hours

2. Breast tenderness, spotting and abdominal bleeding may appear in some patients and last until next menstruation.

Drugs which may reduce the efficacy of levonorgestrel: barbiturates (including primidone), phenytoin, carbamazepine, herbal medicines containing Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s wort), rifamipicin, ritonavir, rifabutin, griseofulvin,

Anlitin could prevent 85%of pregnancy, but its efficacy declined as time passed by.

Woman may have her next menstrual period at the expected time or within a week of the expected time after administration of this medicine. With her next period, she may bleed a little more or a little less than usual. If her menstrual period is delayed beyond one week, she may be pregnant, and a pregnancy test may be needed.

The detail mechanism of Anlitin is currently unknown, but it is believed that higher probability of fertilization is expected when having sexual intercourse before ovulation. Therefore, under adequate dosage, inhibition of ovulation may impair fertilization.
