ACEMUC Sachet

Treatment of respiratory secretion disorders (bronchial and sinusal), especially in acute bronchial affections: acute bronchitis and early stage of chronic bronchitis.

Dosage, administration, route of administration

Adults and children above 7 years: 1 sachet, 3 times daily

Children 2-7 years: 1 sachet, twice daily

Dissolve the medication in a half glass of water

Hypersensitive to acetylcysteine

Children under 24 months old

With high dose, there is possibility of gastrointestinal disorders (gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea): if such events occur, reduce the dosage.

The combination between an expectorant, mucolytic agent and antitussives with/without the reduction of bronchial secretion (atropine-like effects) is unreasonable.

Pregnancy

Observations in animals did not reveal any teratogenic effect; however, it should not be deduced to human.

Lactation

It should not be used during lactation because of lacking data.

Cough is a basic bronchopulmonary defense mechanism that must be respected.

Caution is required in patients with asthma or gastric or duodenal ulcers.

Acetylcysteine is an expectorant, mucolytic agent. Its effect is based on breaking of the disulphide bridges of the high-molecular-weight glycoproteins of the mucus, resulting in reduced viscosity. Moreover, acetylcysteine has the potential to interact directly with oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical, and hypo chloric acid
