In the treatment of

- Prophylactic treatment of asthma

- Chronic treatment of asthma associated with allergy

- Seasonal and perennial rhinitis.

Dosage and Administration

Oral

Adult and Children (aged over 12 years)

Once a daily dose with or without food.

Hypersensitivity, pregnant patients, patients with blood and lymphatic system disorder and psychiatric disorder.

Nausea or indigestion, diarrhea, dry mouth, headaches, sleepiness, tiredness, weakness, heart burn, allergic reactions, breathing difficulties, convulsions, eye or eyesight problems, hypersensitivity, itching, liver problems, muscle pain or tenderness, nausea.

Pregnancy

Contraindicated.

The combination should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed but should not be continued.

Lactation

Since levocetirizine is excreted in breast-milk the combination is not recommended during breast-feeding.

Montelukast

Montelukast is not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks, including status asthmatics. Patients who have exacerbations of asthma after exercise should continue to use their usual regimen of inhaled (beta)-agonists as prophylaxis and have available for rescue a short-acting inhaled (beta)-agonist. Patients with known aspirin sensitivity should continue avoidance of aspirin or NSAIDs while taking Montelukast.

Levocetirizine

Precaution is recommended with intake of alcohol.

Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Antiasthmatic

Montelukast is a clinically leukotriene receptor antagonists. It is used to prevent and manage asthma and to relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergies, also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis or hay fever. It works by clocking the effects of leukotrienes, a substance produced by the body is response to certain “triggers” that cause narrowing and swelling of airways in the longs.

Levocetirizine is a third-generation non-sedative antihistamine, developed from the second-generation antihistamine cetirizine. Chemically, levocetirizine is the active enantiomer of cetirizine. Levocetirizine works by blocking histamine receptors.
