BAILLY-CREAT CIMETIDINE Tablet

Indication

Indicated for the treatment of stomach ulcer ( gastric or duodenal), some esophagitis and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome ( hypersecretion of stomach acid).

Dosage

Gastric or duodenal ulcer: 400mg at breakfast and 400mg at bedtime of 800mg at bedtime.

Maintenance treatment of duodenal ulcer:

400mg at bedtime.

Symptomatic treatment of gastro-esophagus reflux:

200mg during the seizures and/or regurgitations, with a maximum of 600mg/day.

Esophagitis:

400mg-800mg at breakfast and 400mg-800mg at bedtime.

In the Zolliner-Ellison syndrome, the dose may be higher, up to 2g/day.

Oral route

Duration of treatment

- Gastric or duodenal ulcer; 4-6weeks of treatment.

- Esophagitis: 4-8weeks of treatment.

- Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux: maximum 2 weeks of treatment.

hypersensitivity to Cimetidine or to any component of the drug.

Usually, this drug should not be used in combination with phenytoine.

- Diarrhea, muscular pain, dizziness, rash, fever,

- Swelling of the breasts, milk flow,

- Confusion especially among the elderly and renal failure (failure of kidney function),

- Hepatitis (liver inflammation), nephritis (kidney inflammation), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas),

- Allergic reaction,

- Elevation of some blood biological levels (transaminases, creatinine),

- Decreased number of white blood cells, red blood cells and/or platelets.

Cimetidine may increase the effect of some drugs metabolized by the liver. No impact is expected if the dose of 800mg/day is not exceeded.

Antacids may decrease the effect of cimetidine, the administration of the two drugs should be separated by 2 hours.

It is preferable not to take this drug while you are pregnant. This medicine passes into breast milk and should not be used if you wish to breastfeed.

- This dosage is not suitable for children, severe renal failure (failure of the functions of the kidney) or severe hepatic insufficiency (failure of the functions of the liver) impairment.

- In the elderly, stop the treatment in case of confusion of important decrease of heartbeat.
